The Rays were able to flip Greg Jones, a position player with no long-term future with the club, to Colorado for Rock during spring training in 2024. Rock, a 6-foot-6 lefty with back-end starter potential, logged a 4.58 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 132 strikeouts in 139.2 innings at Triple-A in his first year with his new club, and he was added to the 40-man roster after the season. He has an unremarkable 91-93 mph fastball and an above-average slider that allows him to have success against same-handed hitters. Rock's changeup is a fringe-average offering, and he might be better deployed following an opener where he can face as few righties as possible. The Rays have plenty of starting pitching depth, and Rock is one of their less appealing options, but he could be a deep-league streamer at some point in 2025. Read Past Outlooks
