Madden was among a handful of Detroit players who made their MLB debuts in 2024, and the righty more or less held his own. He posted a 4.30 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 23 innings of work across six appearances (one start), often pitching in a bulk relief capacity. Madden only struck out 17 batters in those 23 innings, but he fanned 102 across 79 innings for Triple-A Toledo and has a plus fastball and a plus slider, so there could be room for growth in this area at the MLB level. The big question for the 24-year-old heading into 2025 will be his role. Tarik Skubal is the only truly established starter on the roster, but the Tigers have a number of younger options with upside behind him. As a result, Madden may again work out of the bullpen. Even if he's a bulk reliever, such an arrangement would limit the youngster's ceiling. Read Past Outlooks
