Last season got off to an inauspicious start for Antone as he needed a platelet-rich plasma injection for a flexor strain experienced during offseason rehab from undergoing Tommy John surgery in August of 2021. After extending his in season rehab a couple of times, Antone came off the IL on September 1, last having pitched in the majors in June 2021. Antone mustered only five appearances, before returning to the IL with right elbow tendinitis, ending his season in mid-September. It was only 5.2 innings, but Antone yielded just one earned run while fanning seven, prompting the Reds to ink Antone to a one-year, $830,000 deal, avoiding arbitration. Clearly, health is the concern for the two-time Tommy John recoveree. Antone has back of the bullpen stuff, though it remains to be seen if the Reds will slow play his usage. Read Past Outlooks
