2024 Fantasy Outlook
A second-round pick by the Mariners in 2020, Phillips was traded to the Reds in 2022 as part of the Eugenio Suarez deal. Phillips began last season at Double-A Chattanooga, striking out nearly 40 percent of the batters he faced across 14 starts. His strikeouts fell while his walks spiked upon his promotion to Triple-A Louisville, but regardless the organization deemed him worthy of a late-season audition with the big club. The results were poor during his brief time in Cincinnati (6.97 ERA, 1.50 WHIP over 20.2 innings), but he at least showed a respectable strikeout punch around all the walks and homers. While the right-hander has good velocity for a starter and his sweeper showed promise, he will likely need more time in the minors to refine his command and control. Phillips doesn't turn 23 years old until May. Read Past Outlooks
