Campbell began the season with Double-A Arkansas. He had recorded a shiny 2.63 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 24 innings, fanning 27 while issuing seven walks before being called up by the Mariners in early July. Campbell was quickly optioned back to Double-A, but it wasn't long before he was recalled, spending the duration of the season in the Seattle bullpen. The right-hander impressed with a 2.83 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 33 punch outs in 28.2 stanzas. Dealing from an area of strength, the Mariners sent Campbell to the Red Sox for infielder Luis Urias. Campbell should be given a chance to break camp with a spot in the Red Sox bullpen. The 26-year-old has the stuff to be a late-inning reliever, but he'll have to work his way up the ladder, which could entail beginning the season with Triple-A Worcester. Read Past Outlooks
