Loaisiga's last two seasons have been shortened due to elbow issues, and he didn't pitch after April 3rd last year as a consequence of tearing the UCL in his right elbow. The right-hander's surgery wasn't a full Tommy John procedure, and he's could be ready to pitch by late April or early May, though it wouldn't be a surprise if he's brought along slowly given that he's tossed just 21.2 big-league innings since 2022. In his best campaign (2021), Loaisiga was a key high-leverage asset out of New York's bullpen, but he's never been a big strikeout pitcher and will likely need to establish both his health and effectiveness before he's given the ball late in games once he's ready to return.
