Gore's performance during the first half of 2025 provided promise that he had moved closer to becoming a top-end starter, as he had a 3.02 ERA, 11.3 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 through his first 19 outings. The left-hander then surrendered eight runs during his next start and had a 6.75 ERA over his final 11 starts of the year, and he also missed some time down the stretch due to shoulder and ankle issues. The end result was an unlucky 5-15 record with an unremarkable 4.17 ERA and 1.35 WHIP while setting a career high with 185 strikeouts. The potential is certainly still there with Gore only entering his age-27 campaign, but a middling ERA and high WHIP are a fair expectation for 2026 at this point, even if he makes some improvements. He's also not likely to provide many wins with the Nationals still in rebuild mode. Gore's strikeout numbers raise his floor a bit, but he's more of a risky upside play than a reliable starting option for fantasy managers. Read Past Outlooks
