Leiter had one of the most devastating splitters in the league in 2024, ranking second for that pitch type with a 56.5 percent whiff rate and .099 batting average allowed. The split-finger fueled the 33-year-old righty to a career-high 86 strikeouts in just 58 innings between the Cubs and Yankees. However, Leiter was not effective after the mid-season trade to New York, struggling to a 4.98 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with six home runs allowed over his final 21.2 frames.
