Leiter was non-tendered by the Yankees after the 2025 campaign after the right-hander posted a 4.84 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 48.1 regular-season innings. However, the 34-year-old's 3.55 FIP and 54:17 K:BB were encouraging, which earned him a one-year, $3 million deal with the Athletics for 2026. Leiter's K-rate sunk to just 24.7 percent in 2025, but he's struck out 28.3 percent of the batters he's faced over the past four regular seasons and he could be in the mix for saves as part of an unsettled Athletics bullpen.
