Wacha was once again an effective starter for the Royals in 2025, though his results saw some regression pretty much across the board. He set career highs in starts (31) and innings (171.1) and had a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 126:45 K:BB to go along with a 10-13 record. It was his fourth straight season with double-digit wins, but his strikeout rate dropped nearly four points to a career-worst 17.6 percent. Wacha did a great job keeping the ball in the yard with a 0.78 HR/9, which ranked 10th among qualified starters, and ranked in the 89th percentile in average exit velocity. However, a 4.20 xERA and 4.56 xFIP indicate some trouble could be in store, and he's already walking a bit of a tightrope as he relies on limiting hard contact. Wacha's fantasy ceiling is capped due to the low strikeout numbers, but he's provided a strong ERA and WHIP the past four years. It's just worth keeping in mind the underlying numbers and risk of regression as he enters his age-34 season. Read Past Outlooks
