2026 Fantasy Outlook
Baldwin played a utility role for the White Sox for most of 2025, picking up 328 plate appearances while appearing in at least 10 games in the outfield, third base, second base and shortstop. His overall production remained uninspiring -he posted a 92 wRC+ and .302 wOBA - but Baldwin did make some intriguing gains in terms of his quality of contact relative to 2024. Baldwin's max exit velocity jumped 4.3 mph to 110.2, and his barrel rate more than doubled to 10.9 percent. His career 44.1 percent flyball rate also suggests he gets enough loft in his swing to hit for meaningful power with full-time at-bats. Baldwin is also an athletic player. He measured out in the 82nd percentile in sprint speed (per Statcast) and has been successful on all nine of the stolen base attempts in his career. All of these positives add up to a potentially intriguing fantasy profile that can be an unexpected source of power and speed. The problem for Baldwin is his lack of consistent contact and poor plate discipline. He had a 33rd percentile chase rate (as measured by Statcast) and has struck out at right around a 26 percent clip in both of his big-league samples. Additionally, though he was trotted out at several different positions, he grades out negatively defensively at every spot he plays. That will put a lot of pressure on Baldwin's bat during spring training and early in the regular season, even given the poor state of the White Sox lineup. If Baldwin can produce early, he could emerge as a viable contributor in deeper formats, but he has a lot to prove to get to that point. Read Past Outlooks
