Lugo was acquired by the Angels from the Red Sox at the 2024 trade deadline and made his major league debut last season. Lugo took advantage of the relocation from an overcrowded prospect chart in Boston to the exact opposite situation in Anaheim to reach the big leagues after production and injuries to the active roster opened up opportunities for him. Lugo did something that is hard to do in that he failed to earn even a single walk in 70 major league plate appearances. That stat alone should provide you all the knowledge you need about how to proceed with him, but perhaps his 29.4% strikeout rate in Triple-A Salt Lake City would also scare you. Lugo is only draft-and-hold and mono-league material in the late rounds until one of his skills clicks in , but earning his first major league walk needs to happen sooner rather than later.
