Eguy Rosario

Rosario is at a crossroads with the Padres, as he is now out of minor league options after taking the Southwest Airlines shuttle between San Diego and El Paso many times over the past three seasons. Rosario is a smaller, bat-first infielder who has put up some impressive numbers in the extremely friendly confines of El Paso. The repeatedly high walk rates and his ability to steal bases are qualities that should endear him to the club and help him win a roster spot as a utility person off the bench. The best-case scenario is he pulls off a Jake Cronenworth-type season like when The Rake broke out a few seasons ago. Rosario will go as far as his bat will take him, and him being out of minor league options should all but guarantee him a very long look this season to see whether this athleticism can play into a full-time role.
