Miguel Amaya

26-Year-Old CatcherC
Chicago Cubs
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Amaya simply couldn't stay on the field in 2025, with an oblique strain and a sprained ankle limiting him to only 28 regular-season games and keeping him out of the Cubs' playoff run entirely. The 26-year-old catcher did show some promise during his limited playing time, as he batted .281 with an .814 OPS, four home runs and 25 RBI. Amaya's extended absence opened the door for Carson Kelly behind the plate, and the latter got off to a scorching hot start before eventually cooling down some. Kelly still probably showed enough offensively to hold onto a sizeable role in 2026, and given Amaya's injury-riddled 2025, the team is likely to be cautious with him either way. He still offers some long-term upside, as Kelly is 31 and probably not someone Chicago will build around. However, Amaya could be pushed at some point by the 22-year-old Moises Ballesteros if the Cubs decide to give the bat-first youngster a longer look at catcher. Amaya offers plenty of risk coming off his injuries, and Kelly presents an obstacle in the short-term, but the former could get back on the fantasy map in time, particularly if his offensive game continues to develop.
