Daniel Schneemann News: Steps in at shortstop

Schneemann went 0-for-2 with a walk after coming off the bench to replace Gabriel Arias (ankle) at shortstop in Sunday's 7-0 loss to the Cardinals.

Arias was removed from the game in the third inning with what appeared to be a significant ankle injury. Schneemann, who has been serving as the Guardians' primary second baseman against righties, is the most logical replacement to fill in the likely event Arias requires a stint on the injured list. The Guardians could also call up Brayan Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus to provide another option in the middle infield.
