Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)
Los Angeles (AL) – Jordan Walden blew his sixth save of the season Monday, allowing a game-tying solo home run to Washington's Danny Espinosa in the ninth inning. It's hard to say if Mike Scioscia is looking for replacements now, but the most obvious would appear to be the man who earned the win by pitching a scoreless 10th frame – Scott Downs.
Philadelphia – Ryan Madson was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, which provides a hint as to the 'Recommended Pickup' below.

Recommended Pickup
Antonio Bastardo, P, PHI - With Ryan Madson headed to the DL, somebody (or possibly somebodies) else will pick up some saves for the Phillies in the short tem. Right now, that guy looks to be Bastardo, although Michael Stutes will also be in the mix. According to this tweet from Jayson Stark, Bastardo will probably get the nod in most situations; and given the litany of save chances the Phillies usually have, that makes him worth a look.
Other recent recommendations:Lonnie Chisenhall, James Loney, Wily Mo Pena, Carlos Carrasco, Alexi Casilla
