Closer Watch

Chicago Cubs – Travis Wood earned Tuesday's save in what appears to be a left-handed oriented move. Wood, came on with one out, one on and one run in before getting Skip Schumaker to ground into a double play to end the game.

Washington – The Nats added insult to injury over the weekend, when Jonathan Papelbon went after Bryce Harper in the dugout. Papelbon was suspended three games by MLB and the Nats suspended him four more, which effectively ends his season. A save situation did not emerge Monday, but Matt Thornton is believed to get first crack over the last few games of the season. Blake Treinen and Casey Janssen may also be in the mix.

Recommended Pickup

Jarrett Parker, OF, Giants – With the Giants eliminated from playoff contention and with Hunter Pence seemingly out for the season, Parker seems poised to finish out the season as a regular. Parker swatted 23 home runs at Triple-A this season and he has six more in 38 MLB at-bats heading into Tuesday. He is a former second round pick who has taken time to mature, but the 26-year-old has present power. The power comes at a price, though. Parker had 164 strikeouts in 434 at-bats (38%) at Triple-A.

Other Recent Recommendations:Chris Carter, Rich Hill, Kevin Kiermaier, Steve Pearce, Darren O'Day, Mikie Mahtook
