Recommended Pickup
Andy Pettitte, LHP, NYY – Well, this one is relatively obvious, isn't it? Pettitte hasn't started a game since he was hit with a line drive in a July 27 start against the Indians, but now, he seems to be nearing his return. The borderline Hall of Famer threw 55 pitches in a simulated start Wednesday and felt well after throwing. Now, Yankees' manager Joe Girardi says that if Pettitte is cleared by team doctors Friday – which seems likely – he will reenter the New York rotation next week.

The old man Pettitte was throwing like the Pettitte of old before his injury, pitching to the tune of a 3.22 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in his nine starts this season. He was giving the Yankees length (6.5 innings pitched per start) and was actually posting surprisingly dominant strikeout numbers (9.1 K/9). He is only owned in 7.5 percent of ESPN leagues and if he can return to usual form, he can become a waiver wire pickup that could give a fantasy team an extra few wins down the stretch.
