Closer Watch

Tampa Bay Rays - Brad Boxberger returned to form in his save opportunity Friday, throwing first-pitch strikes to all three batters he faced en route to two strikeouts and a clean ninth inning. His previous outing ended in a loss after he allowed a grand slam while recording just one out, but he was excellent prior to that outing, going five straight without allowing an earned run. The save Friday was his 21st of the season, and he continues to serve in that role for the club without being in any danger of losing the spot.

Recommended Pickup

Andrew Heaney, SP, LAA - Heaney pitched well again in his third outing of the season Tuesday, allowing just two runs over 7.1 innings while adding five strikeouts and issuing no walks to increase his record to 2-0 since his recall June 24. Through three starts, he's allowed just four earned runs over 20.1 innings, while recording 17 strikeouts and limiting his walks to just three. Given his performance since being promoted, it wouldn't be a stretch to say he's earned a spot in the rotation, and it's quite possible that he'll stick around even after Jered Weaver returns from the disabled list. The fact that he plays on a solid team in the Angels is an added bonus, but the young southpaw has pitched well enough for consideration in some leagues.

Other Recent Recommendations:Nick Castellanos, Gerardo Parra, Jason Motte, Patrick Corbin, Ervin Santana and Miguel Sano
