Closer Watch

Cleveland Indians - Bryan Shaw recorded his first save of the season Thursday, pitching 1.1 clean innings with a strikeout, and took only 13 pitches to record the four outs. However, the opportunity was likely just the result of Cody Allen pitching each of the previous two days. While Allen continues to be the primary closer, it appears Shaw continues to be next in line should an injury occur.

Recommended Pickup

Kyle Schwarber, C, CHC - Schwarber spent most of his time in the minors behind the plate, including 37 of his 54 starts (other 17 at designated hitter) in 2015. He finally received a call to the majors Tuesday, and has taken full advantage. In his first three games with the Cubs, the youngster collected six hits, including a triple and a home run, in 10 at-bats. While the team has indicated he will be sent down following the weekend series at Minnesota, it could be tough to keep him off the roster if he continues to stick. He does have a history of playing in left field in the minors, and that would probably be his spot defensively if he were to stick around. Regardless, he should rejoin the team later in the season even if he does get sent back to the minors, so he could be worth a stash in deeper leagues.
