Closer Watch

Toronto Blue Jays - Aaron Sanchez got the night off Thursday after pitching in two straight games, opening the door for Casey Janssen to convert his 21st save of the season. While Sanchez will still likely get the lion's share of the opportunities, it appears the team hasn't given up on Janssen despite posting a 6.75 ERA and a .324 BAA in the month of August.

Kansas City Royals - Wade Davis recorded his first save of the season Friday night, a two-out save where he struck out both of the batters he faced. It's unclear why the Royals turned to Davis over their ace closer in Greg Holland, but Holland is still entrenched as the team's closer. In the event that Holland becomes unavailable for any reason, however, it appears the team will turn to the 28-year-old.

Recommended Pickup

Adam Dunn, 1B, OAK - Dunn went through a change of scenery as the calendar flipped to September, moving from his longtime team in the Chicago White Sox to a playoff contender in the Oakland Athletics. While he has said that he will retire after the season, his latest output would suggest his age hasn't effected his productiveness. In three games with Oakland, he has collected four hits, including to home runs, and also has four RBI and two runs scored. While he is known as an all-or-nothing hitter, his move to the high-scoring Athletics will likely give him plenty of opportunities to drive in runs over the final month of the season.
