Closer Watch

St. Louis Cardinals - Trevor Rosenthal racked up his 41st save of the 2015 campaign Thursday, working around a walk and a hit by striking out two to finish the game off. However, he was officially placed on the paternity list Friday, and he will miss the entire weekend series because of it. Kevin Siegrist would be the likely candidate to receive saves in Rosenthal's absence, but he should retake his role when he rejoins the team.

Tampa Bay Rays - Brad Boxberger notched his 31st save of the season Thursday, striking out the side in a scoreless ninth inning. After going through some struggles, Boxberger began losing a few save opportunities to last year's closer, Jake McGee. However, McGee was placed on the disabled list and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last Friday. As a result, Boxberger has once again taken command of the role, and has converted each of his two save opportunities since. While there's a slight chance McGee could return at the end of the season, Boxberger will likely continue in the closer role even if he does.

Recommended Pickup

Eduardo Escobar, SS, MIN - Escobar has quietly put together a solid month of August, batting .304/.368/.594 with four home runs prior to Friday's contest. He's been even hotter in the past week, going 7-for-20 and collecting three of his four home runs on the month, adding five RBI and seven runs scored. He moved up to second in the Twins' batting order for the first time Friday as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored as of the writing of this article. As a small name player, he's largely unowned in many leagues, but could be worth a small consideration given his recent production and the potential move in the batting order.

Other Recent Recommendations:Mike Moustakas, Wilmer Flores, Aaron Altherr, David Wright, Lance McCullers and Byron Buxton.

3B: Danny Espinosa, WAS ($3,100)
