Closer Watch
Arizona – Wednesday was not a night Brad Ziegler would like to remember. He entered the game in the ninth with a one run lead, but promptly gave up a solo home run to Jason Heyward. The Cardinals then loaded the bases with one out when a throwing error led to the winning run. It was not all Zieler's fault, but it was a blown save nonetheless.
Chicago White Sox – David Robertson blew a save for the second night in a row Wednesday, but he remained in the game for the 10th inning and earned a win. He allowed one run in the two innings. Robertson may not have been available for Thursday's doubleheader and Jake Petricka earned a save in the first game.

Eduardo Rodriguez, P, BOS – The Red Sox are known lately for having an arsenal of prospect arms that do not pan out when they reach the MLB level. Perhaps Rodriguez, who debuted Thursday, will be a different story. The Orioles had Rodriguez fringing on top-100 prospect lists, but may have soured a little when Rodriguez had a 4.79 ERA and 1.45 WHIP last year for the affiliate's Double-A squad. Rodriguez was then traded for Andrew Miller and was a different pitcher in six starts for Boston's Double-A team, dropping a 0.96 ERA and 1.02 WHIP during the remainder of the year. Rodriguez continued his momentum this spring at Triple-A, holding a 2.98 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in eight starts before being summoned to make Thursday's start. His start could not have gone better, as Rodriguez tossed 7.2 shutout innings and scattered five baserunners with seven strikeouts. The Red Sox have to be thinking about keeping Rodriguez up with the MLB team after that start given their recent rotation woes.
